The cuisine is a passion and like all passions, has to be cultivated states Joël Garault. A cuisine which pays tribute to the season’s products to offer the maximum flavor at the best time. «I would say that cuisine must have character, be nice to the eye and finally, respect the vatious components which make it a receipt» Menus : 45/60 Euro - Carte 50/100 Euro
As you would expect, Montparnasse has a plethora of restaurants that serve after midnight, including notably the art deco brasserie La Coupole, open for service until 1.30 a.m. and which is still good value for a plate of half a dozen oysters and a glass of chilled white wine at around EUR 20. The menu, however, includes a wide choice of restaurant and brasserie dishes, with plenty for a full course blow-out, and the atmosphere of several hundred clients under one, domed roof, is exceptional. The noise can be too. This is a site steeped in cultural history – the long velvet benches were once frequented by Picasso, Modigliani, Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir. Le Select lies just across the road and serves delicious omelettes and salads for around EUR 10, in a more intimate style.
